A cooperative preschool is maintained by the parents/guardians of the children enrolled. Parents take turns assisting teachers in the classroom, volunteering for one of the many necessary jobs (which may be in or out of the classroom) and sharing in the business operations of the school, such as fund-raising.
The cooperative philosophy is based on parent involvement while providing developmentally appropriate programs.
At Perry Hall Children’s Center, parents participate in their child’s classroom monthly (usually 1 to 2 times a month, depending on class sizes), attend parent education events, and assist in the running of the school by volunteering for one of many necessary jobs.
